The war in Gaza

Christadelphians are conscientious objectors to military service.  We will not fight in any war because Jesus Christ commanded us to be peaceful until the coming of his kingdom. John 18:36.My kingdom is not of this world: else would my servants fight”.  Therefore, we do not get involved in politics and neither do we vote.  Our hope instead is in a future age the coming of which is described in Rev 11:15The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever".

Christadelphians believe in the personal return of Jesus Christ to the earth to set up his kingdom in the land of Israel. We believe this will become a time of lasting peace. Psalm 72:7In his days shall the righteous flourish: and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth.Isaiah 2 :4And he shall judge among the nations and rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into ploughshares and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn was any more”.

In 1959 a sculpture depicting a man beating a sword into a ploughshare was gifted to the United Nations, and this sculpture still stands outside the United Nations building in New York: but the history of the United Nations has shown that it does not have the power to bring lasting peace, and the soils of the world are still soaked in the blood of war. So, the intervention of God is needed.

What of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians in Gaza?

The dispute between Israel and the Palestinians is primarily about land.  One piece of land between the river Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea is claimed by two peoples.  But the Bible makes a higher claim. Psalm 24:1The earth is the LORD’s and the fulness thereof: the world and they that dwell therein.”  If only people would respect what is written in the Bible.  The Bible also reveals that God has promised this land to Jesus Christ. A comparison of Genesis 12:7 and Galatians 3:16 shows that this is the case. Therefore, Christadelphians believe that whatever the claims of man, when Christ returns to the earth (and the Bible promises he will - Acts 1:6-11) he will inherit the land where Abraham once lived.  There is a political slogan “from the river to the sea”: but the land that has been given to Christ is much more significant Psalm 72:8He shall have dominion from sea to sea and from the river unto the ends of the earth”.  Christadelphians believe men should be patient and wait for the coming of Christ.

Therefore, Christadelphians believe that the Bible puts the present conflict in its true perspective.
