Our Beliefs

The Christadelphians (which means Brethren in Christ) believe in the Bible, and all the doctrines and teachings contained in it. Here is a short summary of some of the main doctrines which we believe:-

  • The Bible is the only true message from God. It was written entirely by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit which is the power of God and is therefore totally true and reliable. 2 Timothy 3:15-17.

  • There is one God. Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Corinthians 8:6.

  • He made the world and has revealed His purpose in the Scriptures. Isaiah 45:18.

  • The Holy Spirit is the power of God, by which He performs His will. Job 26:13, Joel 2:28.

  • Jesus is Son of God, because God was his Father, AND Son of Man, because Mary was his mother. He was born of the virgin Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. Luke 1:35.

  • Jesus overcame ALL temptation and is the perfect sacrifice for sin. His sacrifice can save us from sin and death. Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 10:12-18, Acts 13:38-39.

  • God raised Jesus from the dead. He ascended to heaven and will return to the earth to re-establish the kingdom of Israel. Acts 2:32-35, Acts 3:20-21.

  • When the Lord Jesus returns to the earth, he will judge those that are responsible, both from among the living and the dead. He will reward the faithful with endless life (immortality). 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18, 1 Corinthians 15:50-54, 2 Corinthians 5:10.

  • The Lord Jesus will return to the earth and re-establish the Kingdom of Israel.  He will sit on the restored throne of David and reign from Jerusalem as king over the whole earth, in fulfilment of the promises which God made to Abraham and David. This is the Hope of Israel. Genesis 12, 15, 22, 2 Samuel 7, Luke 1:30-33, Revelation 11:15. Acts 28 : 20.

  • His immortalised servants will reign on the earth as kings and priests. They will establish righteousness and peace on the earth. The kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and his Christ. Revelation 2:26-27. Revelation 5:10. Revelation 11:15.

  • Satan in the Bible means an adversary which can be good or evil. Numbers 22:22 (The Hebrew word Satan is often translated ‘adversary’), 1 Kings 11:14. Devil in the Bible means a  false accuser. John 6:70-71, Titus 2:3 (The Greek word for Devil is translated as ‘false accusers'). The real enemy of mankind is sin (Romans 7:7-11) which Christ overcame. Romans 8:3. Jesus destroyed the Devil, Hebrews 2:14. Therefore the devil cannot refer to an immortal being.

  • When man dies, all consciousness ceases. Man’s only hope  is to be raised from the dead at Christ’s return. Ecclesiastes 9:5-10, 1 Corinthians 15:20-23.

  • To be saved you must believe in the gospel of the kingdom, or in other words the return of Jesus Christ to establish the kingdom of God on earth.  And you must believe in the things concerning the name of Jesus Christ. You must repent and be baptised, and keep the commandments of Christ. Mark1:14-15, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 4:10-12, 1 Peter 2:21-25.
